Help?

I have '98 millenia. There are several things wrong w/it from the transmission to the blinkers. I need to know if there is anyone out there that lives in the Dallas area that knows something about this car and possibly make some $. I had a coolant leak and I think there was kind of a snowball effect. Now the transmission will not engage. I will put it in D and nothing happens. Same thing when I put it in reverse. Something has burned up because when it first happened I pulled over and there was a nasty burning smell and smoke, but I don't know where it was coming from. Does anyone know how to help me or know someone who can take a look at it. The dealership will just rob me.
