2nd gen motor quick fix
i've had my car for a year now and its time to start the modding process for me.. i have an 88 rx7 na gxl.. i have been thinking a lot about trying to swap a 93 twin turbo rx7 motor for mine and put that in my car but after emailing a couple companies and them telling me it would be really expensive i sort of shot down that idea. so now im thinking about rebuilding my 88 engine, porting it, and maybe after that adding a t04 turbo to it.. now the real problem is the money.. if anyone has any insight about cost and how much horsepower these upgrades would add . it would help a lot.

What kind of horsepower are you looking for? A Turbo 2 is a more cost effective model to upgrade for high hp applications. If you wan't to fix up a n/a, youshould consider a supercharger. There are a lot of people that have added on to their n/a with great results.

well i tried to calculate it up by myself and if i was to port and rebuild my engine and go with a turbo. then it would be somewhere around 225 or so horse.. i need a rebuild tho and while they are rebuilding it i might as well tell them to port it. the turbo is only going to be installed if i have enough money left over.

for a turbo conversion (not TII) you will need upper intake for TII, turbo and manifold, turbo to engine modified mount (2 racingbeat exhaust flanges and pipe in between, ecu, some sort of fuel management, AFM, oil lines. and some other things that I cant think of now. but if you find a TII parts car it shouldn't be that hard.
