How slow are 80's Chevys?

I have 2 different occasions racing 2 different chevy's with v8's from the 80's. I own a stock 99 integra 4 dr ls.

First off I am heading to my friends house at about 11 pm. Driving down the highway at about 75 when i look in the mirror and there is a camaro vert pulling up to be on my ass. I brake check him and then he pulls up next to me like he wants to race. At this point we were going down hill nad i decided that if we gonna race and i was gonna have any chance of beating him, this would be it. So i smash the gas and he does to and much to my surpise I pull on him. I almost shit. I keep pulling till ihit about 110 and then slow down. He followed me for a little while until we got to a uphill and he floored and pulled away from me easily. I just shrugged it off as a moron driver or he wasn't trying.

Until a few nights ago.....

I'm driving on the same road only I"m south bound at around 12 am. Again cruising at like 70-75 and a c4 pulls on to the high way and starts matching my speed. I look over and see it's an older guy and his wife. I think to my self "why the fuck not?" And i smash the gas as does he. Again I am blown away by the fact that I am actually pulling on him. As i near my exit he blows past me going up a hill again.

Now I"m not saying that's a kill because i dunno if they were racing, but if they were, it is totally sad. Anyone race any c4 vettes or camaros?

V-8s are fast as hell if theyre mantained. if you let them rust then they are large slow cars.

Some V8s are fuck*ng slow.
Some V8s are ok.
Some V8S are fuck*ng fast.

You cannot generalize.
