does that borla catback create alot of sound?
about your problem...i don't know tons about cars but could it be possible that the smoke is caused by oil leaking where it shouldn't when the car is turned off? brain fart about the details but that may give you an idea. |

Re: 00 z smokin when start but thats it.
Oil smoke is blue.
Fuel smoke is gray or black antifreeze, tranny fluid, and brake fluid make white smoke. black smoke on start up may indicate that you have a leaking fuel injector. You may wish to try some cleaner in case it is just sticking open a little. |

Re: 00 z smokin when start but thats it.
Thank you... well i work as a plumber and work on boilers so i know when the fuel air mix isnt right i get a black smoke. so my question is how can a leaking injector cause that problem? by dropping fuel while off?

Re: 00 z smokin when start but thats it.
Malfunctioning CTS can cause an over-rich start. (THinks it's colder out than it really is-telling ECM to hold injectors open for an even wider than necessary pulse width)
Dirty air filter will cause it.. (Air intake restriction) Malfunctioning IAT will cause it. (Thinks intake air is colder than it really is. Same reaction as CTS) Malfunctioning fuel pressure regulator will cause it... (Too much fuel pressure at injectors when cold) Incorrect spark plug gap will cause it. (Cold conditions require different spark timing that hot conditions.) Bad, leaky plug wires will cause it. (Wires that leak current when cold/damp, but work OK when hot and dry.) (won't fire so good at rich mixtures, but hot, lean condition OK.) Bad ECM ground will cause it. (Erroneous data from sensors to ECM du to intermittent bad connection, which heat will tend to tighten temporarily.) Malfunctioning MAP sensor (THinks it's at a higher altitude than it really is. Don't worry about the O2 sensor-The ECM ignores it usually until it's temp reaches 600 degrees F or two minutes thereabouts has passed. The ECM uses info primarily from the CTS and IAT sensors to calculate mixtures for an initial cold start. |

Re: 00 z smokin when start but thats it.
A leaky injector can "drip" while the car is off. When you start it is a little rich and you get a puff or two. If that don't fix it you may still need to check all the things Three Fingers mentioned.
But you always start with simple and cheap first. Good Luck. |

well i thanks for the help and yes it is just a puff of black very minimal. when it happens i cant even see it by the time i turn around.. but when some1 else starts it as i am watching i can see it for a sec...
