Help? I give you my maxima and 1,000 bucks! ... kinda

As the title reads, i give you my 97 max and 1,000 bucks, hypethetically (sp?) ... what mods would you do with 1000 bucks ... It's a:
-BLACK
-1997
-MAxima SE
-5 SPEED
-stock
... i could really use some help cuz i just dont know what to do first, any suggestions, comments, etc. is appreciated ... 1000 bucks COnsidering the following:

-nothing exterior, cuz i'm not at that stage yet and i'll be getting the windows tinted soon

-mechanic charges dont apply (cuz i'll pay those out of pocket - cuz this 1000 bucks is comming from selling my old truck)

-nothing interior or anything to do with the sound system

so in a nutshell, what's a good start of 1000 bucks worth of performance mods. i know 1000 bucks isnt THAT much but i think its a start ... thanks again!

I'd go with:

• intake-$150
• y pipe-$200
• cattback exhaust-$500-$600
  

that's about it. that was the setup i had on my 95. i went with Weapon-r intake, Budget y pipe and a Stillen Cat-back exhaust. $1K don't really get ya much but that should bump you up 20 hp or so.

ok, but i thought i heard intake (unless true Cold air) doesnt help the maxima that much, but that it actually hurts it's high end accel...i maybe wrong, i am just wondering.

thanks for your help too, anyone else have ideas on what they would do?

Cold air intakes hinder a 4th gen's top end performance becuase of the extra tubing used but a typical intake or GAB will give it a little extra something

i seeeeeeee, so for now, i think i'm gonna go with:

-Stillen Highflow intake (130?)
-Cattman Y-pipe (350?)
-Some sort of Cat-Back system - but i am having trouble deciding, so i may post a thread asking for help on this one (that should be roughly 350-450
-Then maybe what was suggested above

I'll go with injen cold air (250)
And cattman cat- back system(500)
and y-pipe

go to the muffer shop have them bend two 2.5 inch pipes then then buy to cat backs and you will have a true costom dual exhaust but it might cost a little more then want you want to spend just an idea
