RX7 newbie (soon)

I have purchased an 85 with the 13b motor (so the man says) anyway it has sat in his garage for the last 5 years untouched!!! I gave him $300 canadian for the car as it looks really good body wise and reasonably clean underneath. Everything works, well almost everything! The reason he sold it was the fact that even with a new battery it would not turn over, nothing. I have read through some posts and found info on "carbon lock". I really hope I have stumbled on to something good. Am I being stupid thinking that is what's going on? He did drive it for a few months after he purchased it and just parked it, with the intent on doing it over. He now is moving and has lost interest. I believe he is telling me what he knows as he is an acquaintance and the father of my childs friend. Sorry about the long post I just want to get the facts straight. So anyone have any ideas or comments I appreciate them all. I have two pictures, check my profile for the address.
Thanks.
Mike

Re: RX7 newbie (soon)

Try to turn the engine by hand.
if you can't, then you may have to put atf in the rotor chambers and hope it will dissolve some of the carbon after a few days. it's never a good thing though.
if you can, then you're golden and it's just a starter problem.

Thanks for the reply! Maybe I should have also said that the starter does work. He had it out repaired a loose wire and tried it before re-installing it. It worked fine, it just would not turn the engine. So I will try the ATF method once I bring her home. I will be sure to post the results should anyone be interested.
