squeak from front

i have a squeak coming from front of motor. could it be the idle pulley?have a 00 silverado 2wheel ext with 42000 milesa. any ideas

Check your alternator..mine was doing this and needed the brushes and bearings replaced...I never did it though b/c it was charging fine, and a new one is like $200.

Saying you have a squeak at the front of the engine is kind of vague. You need to spend some serious time checking things out. I would start with the engine off and check the belt and pulleys. You may even want to loosen the belt and see if all the pulleys are secure. I could go on and on but the most probable culprit based on the limited info you gave would be the belt or one of the pulleys.

Every now and then I get a squeak from the front end which sounds like a belt squeaking, but it only does it every now and then when I'm turning left at just the right speed, and I could swear it depends on the weather.

yeah..check the belt then, look to see if any visible cracks are showing..if so, replace it
