need some advice on '90 mods

I've had my Camry for about three years now, and it just needs something togive it new life. It's a Camry DX ( 4 cyl., Automatic), and it runs very well. The only thing I have added is a 3.5" exhaust tip, to give it a sporty sound. However, I've seen some camrys with a performance intake in place of the stock air filter box. Just need to know how exactly to perform the swap and if it will set off any lights on the dash. If you know of any other inexspensive perform. mods it would be really appreciated.

/my soapbox

Best way to get more life out of the Camry is to perform all maintenance operations.
So called cold air intake will mostly just make it a bit louder.
Best modification I like is Redline complete fuel system cleaner.
http://www.redlineoil.com/products_fueladditives.asp
One bottle in the tank, and then 1/10th of a bottle at each fill up forever. You'll feel more power immediately, and then the continuing usage will clean the intake valves, combustion chamber and emission controls, but it takes a long time, so just keep on.
Much of the Camry's power comes from four valves per cylinder, so you want them clean to enable the most efficient engine breathing possible.
Here's another often overlooked but simple and effective upgrade.
Check your throttle cable for wide open throttle.
I took a length of 2x4 to hold down the gas pedal, then a concrete block to keep it there. Next look at the throttle body and adjust the cable so that it contacts the stop for full open. Mine needed an adjustment of a little less than half and inch, which also affected the throttle cable to the automatic transmission and improved shifting.
Next consider synthetic lubricants. I noticed an immediate improvement when changing to Mobil 1 fully synthetic ATF in the differential.
Also, make sure the factory air filter is clean. Hold yours up to a new one and look at the difference.
Check the spark plug wires for resistance and change if needed.
The best way to get the most out of a Camry is to keep it in pristine condition mechanically. Most every other modification you make will cost you elsewhere. For example you might gain on high end slightly but lose low end torque.
