Angry 1996 ford ranger rough idle and misfire

I have a 1996 ford ranger XLT 2.3 liter engine, 138,000 miles I have been having a problem where after running the truck for approximately 34 miles and letting it sit while I'm at work. when I leave work rough at idle and have had a # 1 engine misfire (P301) under full acceleration. Have replaced the spark plugs and wires, and 02 sensors. I don’t know if this is related but my heater doesn’t work either. Outside air temp is in the Mid 90’s (central valley of California) Any suggestions

Re: 1996 ford ranger rough idle and misfire

do you have plenty of coolant? it sounds like youre truck is overheating.

~its fine in the morning when its cool
~acts up during the day after being run for 34 miles
~heater doesnt work

those are all symptoms of overheating/low coolant

what I would do is get a timing gun and hook it up to cylinder 1 and see if its getting any power at all if it is, change the plug again. if it still misfires, test the injector.
