Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me why the air is blowing from all the vents in the car and if it is an easy fix. The car is a 2001 alero by the way. I also have the "resistor" problem on the first 2 fan blower settings, does this have anything to do with it? Thanks for the help.

Re: AC blows from defrost panel vent and floor vents
I'll bet the little door in the dash that redirects the air to certain vents is broken. Someone else has had this problem...Do a search in the Alero thread and see what comes up. I think he paid like $165 or something to get it fixed.

I would guess the previous post is accurate. The damper that redirects the air flow up to the defrost vent is not be actuated. The damper controls are small electromechanical devices that are no doubt protected by a fuse. Your blower motor problem may have cascaded electrically to the damper control (i.e., perhaps they are protected by the same fuse.) You may want to consider ensuring all fuses are functional.
I don't own service manuals for my Alero - it would be worth checking in your owner's manual to determine the fuses that control the blower motor and check those. There may be seperate low-speed/high-speed fuses. That's where I would start before taking it in anyway. |
