L200 Steering
I am looking at purchasing a 2001 Saturn L200. I brought it to my mechanic today because I felt a strange click in the steering while turning both right and left. My mechanic thinks that it is caused by excessive wear on the motor mounts and thinks that the front and rear mounts need to be replaced.
Upon bringing it back to the dealer, their mechanic says that the engine movement is not excessive and does not need replacing. My mechanic said they currently have another L200 in the shop with the same exact problem as the one I am looking at. Is this a known problem and if so what if any is the fix. My mechanic knows of no TSB's regarding this issue? Thanks Mark |

I am taking it to a private mechanic. The dealership I am dealing with is an independent who also takes their cars to private mechanics.
Also, when you hit the gas with it in gear and the brake on you can feel a "chunk" from under the hood and can see the engine rock. I am off to meet with the dealer and are going to take it to a GM mechanic and see what he says. Thanks for your link I will check it out. Mark |

sounds more are more like the mounts to me, see if you can rock the engine by hand, it shouldn't move(a little is ok) |
