Im Begging Everyone Please Help With My Problem No One Ever Replies To My Post

i have a 99 gsr. I was racing and a spring shot out in my clutch and wrecked my clutch...got it replaced. My car was running terrible though. It makes a put put put put put noise really quickly and shakes bad. I thought it might need a tune up so i changed the plugs and wires. That did nothing so i ran a compression test and cylinder 1 had no compression. Im thinkin its one of two things a ring (which i hope) and a valve (i really hope not). Its not smoking so i kinda dont think its a valve but ive seen weirder things. I know i should take off the head but if someone could tell me to check some things first i would rather do that cuz i have to buy new head studs from just taking off the head. Now also the car shuts off after awhile of running cuz the rpm's are low from no compression. Please someone if you know what to do or have had the same problem help me out i havent had my car for 4 months. THANKS

do a leakdown test. that should pinpoint you to where you are lossing your compresion. if you hear the air coming out th intake, you got a bad intake valve, if ait comes out the exhaust, bad exhaust valve. if it leaks and you can;t really hear it, good chance you gat ring problems. It seems awfully odd that you have absolutely 0 compression, are you sure you did the test correctly?

what did the other cylinders look like?

a leakdown test is your best bet before tearing apart your motor. definitely start there.

i would suggest the same thing, a leakdown test is the quickest way to determine the problem, but id also try another compression test, if you got such low numbers, thats like all the rings have melted in there, and there is nothing stoping the flow of the air.

Re: Im Begging Everyone Please Help With My Problem No One Ever Replies To My Post

thanks for your help i will try that test today. i tried the compression test again and it still came up 0 in cylinder one. Im thinkin i have to get a new set of rings. Im takin the head off today or tomarrow so i will find out the problem then. My friend was tellin me that if it is rings i probably scored my cylinder which has to be honed but if it gets honed all the cylinders have to be honed. If you have bigger cylinders you need bigger pistons and this is giving me a big headache and its costing way to much money for such a small thing. Does a company make rings that are a little larger so i dont have to get new pistons or does the guy who told me not know what hes talkin about? Also my friend said he needed a ridge reemer what the hell is that?
