you broke it

first thing is what color is the smoke if its white you prob blew the head gasket, second thing you prob locked up a piston thats what I did in my the first time I blew my motor, third is you could have spun a bearing. pull the oil pan check the bottom end, also pull the head. it has to be one of the 3 hope this helps dude.

the smoke is white but when i tryed to drive it
the power would kick in and out at certain rpms

Re: this is a hard one for you guys

what kind of fuel system do you have, and are you running lean? I still think you toasted the motor dude. just dop the oil pan and see if there are any shavings in the pan, that won't take to long but then you'll know if its the bottom end or not.

thats great, what kind of fuel system do you have, and are you running lean? I still think you toasted the motor dude. just dop the oil pan and see if there are any shavings in the oil pan. did you do any tech work or not... I.E. pull head, drop oil pan. if not then dude do one of the two listed.

Re: this is a hard one for you guys

I have a Walbro pump, it did that to me for a while.
it cleaned up after i gave it an oil change, the reason it happened to me was the oil change before I accidently put... oh i donno two Qts Over. Wink Wink. I didnt realize it at first because i was being cocky about my new turbo, and just wanted to drive the hell out of it... as for the gas smell with a walbro more than likely everytime you fill your tank up, its gonna stink like gas all the time sorry bro. But do check your oil get it changed. Also check your exhaust pipping for any wet substance on it, my shit was wet as hell when I overfilled my oil. If that doesnt work for you take your oil pan off and check for shavings.

Re: this is a hard one for you guys

i asked baout the smell because because i think a white smoke with a different yet off smell (i dont know how to describe it) would mean your head gasket is gone. It's better to erun rich than lean.

you said : "this was in an 88 dx civic and i crashed it so i switched everything over to a 90 civic std."

did you play with you timing belt when you pulled the sawp?
hmmm... did you check your timing recently?
