Question Saturn SC2

Got a problem. My son has a 1997 SC2 and it has a starting problem.
If it sits for a few hours (2 or more) it starts hard, lots of cranking. When it does start, coughs and sputters for a while, like it was flooded.
I checked the fuel rail, after it had been sitting, and found no fuel pressure. I suspected a leaky injector or pressure regulator. BUT!!!
If driven and shifted at higher rev's, say at 5500 to 6000, not driven hard, just shifting at higher rpm, the problem goes away. If short shifting (3500 to 4000 rpm), the heard start returns. No dash warnings.
Would a code scan reviel the problem? Is it a leaky injector or bad fuel regulator? OR???

Re: Saturn SC2

not quite sure what your problem is, but i do know the 97s had some problems with the fuel system (i think the pump, not sure). ask over at saturnfans.com, i have a feel a user by the name Wolfman will have your answer.
