Water thru AC filter

Ever heard of this one - Got into my Intrigue after a heavy rainfall and it had about 1/8 inches of water in the passenger floor.

I took it to the body shop for a leak check and as they were telling me to take it to the windshield repair shop to have that reset - they found the culpret. Seems that when the AC filter was changed, the weather guard was not placed back on it, but laid up on the filter. The mechanic said when he pulled the filter, it was like a sponge, so it must have overflowed into the car.

Call me the leak detector because this is the 3rd vehicle I've had that has had leaks that were not the windshield!!! One firewall, one luggage rack bolt, one AC filter box.

Go figure. Hopefully they truly did find the culpret and I will not be suctioning water from my floorboards anytime soon

I have had wet passenger rear floor for some time now. It never occurred to me to check the front under the floor mat. Well the front was so wet it was apparently seeping to the back .
After reading Bonnie's post I found I had the same thing. The weather guard which is just a piece of rubber about fifteen inches long was laying on the AC filter. It is supposed to be on the cowl above the AC filter to deflect water from the windshield. I glued it back in place and all is fine. Thank You Bonnie"""""""

My son also had an 01 focus to do the same thing. The cabin air filter directly above the a/c had the gasket loose and leaked water in.

I'm having this problem as well. It seems that whenever I make a left hand turn (after a rainfall), water flows into the passenger side floor. How do I go about finding/fixing the problem? I really don't know much about cars, but I REALLY need to get this fixed. My wife really doesn't like her feet getting wet, and I'm afraid the floor is gonna rust!

ON my car a 99 intrigue open the hood , remove the long rubber seal at the base of the windshield. Then remove the plastic cowl cover at the base of the passenger side windshield. I think there is about three or four screws there holding that side on. As you look down inside this area you will see the ac air filter with a black plastic grill over it. Well up above that there should be a 15 inch or so rubber seal fastened at the base of the windshield directly above where the ac filter is to keep water from dripping into the filter. Mine had fallen off and was laying down inside by the filter. I re glued it in place above and all has been fine since then . I hope this helps you...

Need to add more information to this. I took the car in for it's oil change and asked my regular mechanic to look at the ac filter to make sure it was new/dry. It was new/wet. The water was not going out thru the drain plug at the bottom. when he blew that plug, he got about 1/2 gallons of water out. Now my car is dry

I and my fiancee have found a newly developed water issue with her '98 Intrigue; this one in the trunk. A few weeks ago, we discovered a lot of water in the spare tire compartment. We attributed this to the spare being put away after using it on snowy roads - without cleaning the snow off first. Yesterday we discovered that the trunk is very wet again - and although this is Michigan, there hasn't been any snow here yet!! I had a leaky trunk on my '00 at the spoiler (yet another reason to not install that ugly thing) mounting holes that took several visits to the dealer to repair.

Have any of you had late-onset trunk leaks? I haven't been able to determine the source of this one yet. There don't appear to be any holes, and yes, the drain hole plugs were installed properly.
