Best of favorite sleeper car?

ok i own an 88fullsize blazer thats going to kill on gas so im looking for a good clean car thatll make a good sleeper. needs to be under $2000 and not made by honda or acura. i prefer european cars but i just wanted to see some of your suggestions...wat cars would you make into a sleeper???

Pretty far, I think into the 70's. The Rabbit GTI has been around since '83, and the Audi 5000 was around during the 80's.

ok i took a look at them all and theres no way in hell id drive a rabbiy, i guess the audis pretty nice but will be hard to find, i like the older m3 though like and 88 or newer, whatever i can afford

For under $2000, get yourself a 1986-1988 BMW 3'er. The 325is is the best (save the m3), but kinda rare, and usually more than $2000 if in good shape. I have a 325es, which only has a different engine. Paid $1800 for my car.
