2nd gen rx7 vs mk1 mr2 vs s13 240sx vs mkIII supra

alright...this comparison is for aftermarket support, styling, power, handing and mostly just an overall look at each car with their good points and bad points posted...

personally i think the order goes like this

#1 2nd gen rx7 non-turbo - fastest of the group, nice styling, rotary coolness, decent reliability
#2 s13 240sx - a little slow but a turbo setup can fix it's only ailing trait, great styling even by todays standards, great handling
#3 mkI mr2 - best handling car of the list, least practical, smallest, mr can be bad in less-than-perfect conditions (ie hard driving or snow/rain/ice)
#4 mkIII supra (turbo or n/a) - decent styling, but the power is a bit lacking for its weight

but the list definitely changes if you want to look at just performance...or just styling or whatever...so what order would you put these cars in and why?

I like the 3rd gen. Supra, turbo or N/A. It's a lot faster than you'd think - drive one and see

RX7 all the way. I am a little BIAS.

Drove the turbo supra they are nice and quick, dont know about the N/A.

The 240SX would also be #2 on my list. I like those cars alot. Bit I felt like for less money the FC was more of a car.
#3 turbo supra because they are quick, handle decent and are pretty comfy.

never driven a 1st gen mr2

The one thing that really turns me off from the RX-7 is the maintenance...because it's an unconventional engine type, repairs can become very costly and difficult.

Not really.
The engines are cheap and easy to fix if you have regular mechanical skill.

And there are great rotary mechenacis depending on your area.

Oh okay, well I dunno crap about rotaries, but I've heard that DIY repairs aren't that difficult on the non-turbos.

Re: 2nd gen rx7 vs mk1 mr2 vs s13 240sx vs mkIII supra

240SX...

1) RX7...well we know the problems and all you need is a turbo for the 240SX to even the playing field...it handles just as good as a RX7 and is just as light

2) MR2...eh...they were fast but not crazy fast...it's a 1st gen so it doesnt look as good as the S13...sure it's light and all...but really...not the best when it comes to what the 2nd gen had in terms of engine and capabilities...the 1st gen's good for autoX's though

3) Supra Turbo...well sure it's got the turbo and all...and they are quick...but heavy and dont handle all that well...so again...just turbo the 240sx to own the Supra

Re: 2nd gen rx7 vs mk1 mr2 vs s13 240sx vs mkIII supra

im thinking twincharge the 4ag will give you a very impressive power to weight ratio... or swap in the 3sgte into the mk1(mk1.5 as they are commonly called). Or what im currently looking up: the aluminum v6 from a camry/sorola. 1MZ-FE. TRD makes a supercharger kit that can get up to 475hp. now lets see.. a car that has a factory weight of 2350'ish pounds... addthe weight of the 1MZ-FE+supercher.. plus a bunch of light weigh shiz and uhh.. well, long story short a car with a down right scarey power to weight ratio that can brake and corner with the best of them. muahahah!

oh yeah, and there is bill who stuck a northstar v8 in one.. o_O!

How the hell do you fit a Northstar V8 in an MK1 MR2? o_o

I've checked out that site a few times...a decent project, but if I was going with any engine I like the 3sgte...mk1.5 seems like a great, cheap idea...those engines are light, bullet-proof and have turbos...n/a is nothing compared turbo fun imo...

rx7s can surpass the 240sx pretty easily...but reliability and fuel economy is horrible on a turbo rx7...even n/a they suck gas pretty bad and require a bit more maintenance...

so for a daily driver a 240sx is best probably

Re: 2nd gen rx7 vs mk1 mr2 vs s13 240sx vs mkIII supra

Did i just hear someone say that the MKIII Supra, the "Corvette Killer" as C&D called it, cant handle?

Something tells me you've never driven one, because my father has one, and let me tell you, that car is almost as fun to drive as my MR2, and I know a lil something about handling...

By the way, I vote the MKI MR2, drive one and you'll understand why...

FC has the best handling IMO. Pretty easy to find parts for them too.
