Question Can cops clock you when...?

I was wondering can police officers clock you and give you a ticket even if your going one way and the cop is going another (ex. 2 way street). because whenever im speeding and i see a cop i slow down and turn all my neon lights off, but do you think if he sees them or thinks im speeding he will bust a u turn and get me? ive never gotten a ticket yet but i wanna keep it that way. pleaze voice your opnions, thanx.

They can't clock you going the other way but they can turn around and get you. This is what happened to me. He saw me speeding turned around from going the other direction and wrote me up for failing to follow a traffic device(the speed limit sign). I dont think they can ticket you for much more than this as they can't clock you. It also carried no points. wasn;t to bad.

but you can fight it in court right? because he would have to account for his speed to and that takes brains...unless you were going like 90 in a 45.

well in order to clock you they need to either scan you or follow you for a distance and see the speed your going as per the cops spedometer.
You can fight anything in court but these are proof for the speed your going.
I could have fought what I had (failing to follow a traffic device) since he really didn't have any proof of how fast I was going. He asked me how fast I was going I said 35 it was a 35, he wrote on the ticket I said 45, i already signed it(realizing it to late). then I determined it wasn't worth fighting regarding my time and I didn't have points anyway. 100 bucks isn't to bad.

depending on your state they won't mess with you for neons. if they think your speeding they can just turn around and pace you and then get you for that. not positive, but they might be able to clock you if they're coming towards you.

either way, try not to go more than 10 over the limit and you should be ok

Radar Speeding Ticket

Radar is capable of clocking you in either direction if the officer is moving or stationary. Most units now have front and rear radars so it doesn't matter which direction the officer is travelling. They automatically adjust for the speed of the cruiser and give a direct readout of your speed.

The new pop mode on the newer radars can be turned on and off almost instantly so your radar detector is worthless if they have this type of unit.

For Lidar (laser) the officer needs to be stationary. It is also instant on so again a detector has little value.

These units are extremely accurate so it has become very difficult to get your speeding ticket dismissed based on an error in the reading if you were clocked by radar or laser.

a lot of states don't even use laser yet, so there's really no point in buying one of those laser jammers yet. i also read somewhere that the cop shoots laser at the headlight so a jammer on the plate shouldn't do a whole lot.

either way...best defense is to a) not speed too badly and b) just use your eyes

yes the cops can clock your speed if they pass you you ever see those little black things on the back drivers side window. as far as i know ive seen very few county cops and almost all the state cops have them. there linked to the computer and it automatically calculates how fast you were going they got my friend going 75 in a 40 in his wrx. and if your worried about radar get a radar jammer its illigal in most places but it does work.

Must be young people here. YES cops can get you for speeding with radar as he is coming at you. Also via a Escort rep. She told me by the time you react to a laser radar the cop has your speed so just pull over. Been driving for many years trying to out smart them but they always get the new toys first. So watch out.

Re: Can cops clock you when...?

they can definately clock you going the other way...

i was REAL lucky and got let off doing 160ish in a 50 zone.... must've been the end of his shift i guess...

new radar detectors will detect pop but you wont have time to react unless it detects a pop on a car somewhere up ahead of you... i dont know if the on car units pop because they have to calculate trajectory and velocity relative to the police vehicle and this is hard without tracking...

i know you can jam laser but its really hard to detect... jamming radar is definately illegal... and they'll know and do you for it.

in the US you can jam laser cause its governed by the health dept not police/military etc.

Re: Can cops clock you when...?

i heard somewhere that cops get the most accurate reading of your speed when u press ur breaks passing them? Is that true? Because people have told me to just simply release the pedal when u see them and it's more difficult to get a reading..

Re: Can cops clock you when...?

i got pulled over for going 80 in a 45(but i was only doing 50 in a 50. the officer claimed i was going 80 in a 45). but i was not speeding, there were cars in front of me that were going faster then i was. what is the best defence in court?
