Unhappy 2001 Ranger check engine light

About 8 days ago my check engine light turned on. I read my manual and I have refueled my car with higher grade gas as well as I added Gas antiifreeze to the tank and I still have the light on. Before I take it for a diagnostic and lspend 100 bucks right off the bat, does anyone have any expert advice on what I can do or whatmight be the problem. One note is that the Northern New Jersey area has been getting a pounding with rain the last two weeks and i was wondering if moisture has anything to do with it?

Re: 2001 Ranger check engine light

dude dont take it anywhere yet; go to autozone and tell them to scan youre ECU. they will tell you a code which will pinpoint the location of youre problem, or at least narrow it down.

I have no idea what gas antifreeze is. are you sure you were supposed to put whatever it is youre talking about in youre gas tank?

water should have no affect at all on youre engine unless you somehow managed to get enough water in youre intake for it to hydroblock. Unless youve been driving underwater I dont think you did.

Thanks

I will go to AutoZone and thanks. No I did not drive under water lol but basically Gas antifreeze is Dry gas that you put in your gas every once in a while.

I appreciate the advice.
