The Mr2’s street debut

Well, I was on my way home from picking up a pizza (driving a friend around trying to find a DVD) and was surprised that my car actually had gotten a few looks. Ok, fine, one… some riced out civic hatch… but still…

Back to the story: I was about half way home, waiting at a light for my turn to cross Central on a one car wide street. Behind me a car with some BRIGHT blue headlights appears, can’t tell what it is from the side mirrors (and the center one is broken) so I turn around to look… and it’s a brand new MASERATI! I didn’t mean to, but I let slip the “OH MY GOD! *drool*” face… which the driver noticed, instantly giving him a grin just as big as mine. I pulled the mr2 up a bit further (into the crosswalk a little) allowing just enough room for him to pull next to me. Smiling he pulled up, then continued his turn… inside tire spinning all the way through it. And I have to say… the acceleration wasn’t too impressive, but it was a Maserati so I’ll just assume it was driver.

A couple miles later coming up to a red light that had just turned green I pass a dude on a crotch-rocket who had stopped at the light. Green and white Kawasaki ninja z-something-6 (sorry, I didn’t look very closely). He sped up and matched my speed (the speed limit 40mph) for a while then revved, downshifted, and let the bike fly.

Ok, scene description with the bike: three lanes, he was in the center, I was in the right. There was a big SUV right in front of him with his blinkers on to merge into the far left lane… and a car doing 10 under about 20yds ahead of us in the center lane. The SUV moved, ninja sped up, I sped up to 45. he caught up to the slower car, slowed down to avoid running into it, and watched the rest of the traffic in the right lane go by him. Myself and the 5 cars behind me… +8 car lengths on the idiot on the bike *shakes head*

synopsis: ok, fine… didn’t actually race L but saw a new Maserati coupe show off, and a guy on a bike TRY to show off… but instead was owned by traffic.

Fun stuff for going to get a pizza and movie!

True enough. Maseratis generally aren't as much fast as they are sexy, but I'd still kill for one.

And nice to hear you have your car going. I can't wait to hear some kills, and maybe a timeslip or two.

My honda may have less displacement than your coke bottle, but I'll race your coke bottle for $1000. Who says there's no replacement for displacement?
