Question Stereo Help

I have a 97GS-t. When I got it it had no stereo deck and no speakers. I know there was just a factory stereo and an infinity option and the infinity came with an amp. If anybody can tell me where the amp is(if I have one) and what the speaker sizes are(there are speakers in the back beside the seats, in the door, and on the top of the dash) that would be awsome.

under the passenger seat. crutchfield.com tells you all sizes, or see what people use on dsmtuners.com

Awsome. I looked at crutchfield and they say the back are 6x9 and the front are 6 3/4 but I also looked at ultimate electronics and they said the front are 5 1/4. I suppose I can just go and measure them. thanks for the info.

in my spyder gs the rears are 6x9 and the front door are 51/4 and the dash are 31/2. make sure you ground your new head unit to the chassis I didn't see a ground on my factory harness. I couldn't figure out why the stereo kept cutting out till I looked really closely at how the previous owner had installed the new HU

It had the infinity system. The previous owner gave it all to me when I bought the car. I thought you were putting in aftermarket.

I am putting in after market but I just wanted to know what was going to be an easy fit. The two factory options have different sizes. And no the changer isn't there. The entire stero system was striped except for the wireing. Im thinking of putting in pioneer for speekers and the stereo itself and I havent thought about subs yet(don't know if ill even put them in ill be happy with just the stereo). Does anybody have anything good or bad to say about pioneer.

Are you talking about amping just the speakers themselves or getting subs?

Re: Stereo Help

The front speakers blow around 90K miles (had three eclipses with the SAME blown speakers at the same mileage , LMAO!). I put in a set of Infinity Kappas in the front....those are damn sweet! Hit hard for the size...but the rear 6x9's in a spyder have smaller magnets that the stock rears of the coupes. ... so im still looking for good 6x9s that would fit...someone said i should get spacers, but im not too sure.

Im thinking of putting the 6X9s back in the hatch on that pice of hard fabric. The one that goes up and down when you open the hatch itself. Ill take a little time and make it look nice and than I wont have to worry about what size or how deep the speeker is

No it has the XM receiver in place of the disc changer and the previous owner sold the disc changer.

It has a Sony mp3/xm/cd in dash XM reciever in the trunk and sony speakers around. The dash speakers were disconnected.
