boosted dohc vtec, same redline?
Say I were to boost my b16b and get some 9:1 compression pistons. Would it still be capable to run the 8,400 redline with such low compression? I may answer my own question by saying only dynotuning will tell.. But what about some of you with built/boosted b16a's, can you still rev to 8,200 and make power?

you can still rev to whatever the stock redline of the ctr is because you didnt change the cams or the valve springs and retainers, but it doesnt mean that it will still make power that high and need to be reved that high.
the ability to make power above stock redline has to do with air flow. like if you get a bored tb, intake mani, and cams, your redline will be higher then stock |

Re: boosted dohc vtec, same redline?
Cool thanks. I go for an interview this Thursday for a job making $18.70/hour, and if I get it, my car is going to get a huge facelift

Put it on the dyno. If it's making power at 8400, keep spinning it till you don't feel safe spinning it any more.

if you chip the car you will have a higher rev limit but just boosting it won't change the red line

"chip" it huh
![]() I don't want to raise the rev limit, I wanted to know if it's still safe with lower compression, and my question was answered. |
