Check your "glove box" manual. There's a procedure to enable/disable this feature.

I'm trying to decide if that's sarcasm or genuine?

If you don't have you're Owners Manual I can copy you the procedure from mine, but mine's 1996 which may only be valid for '95 thru '97.

I've seen Owners Manuals from just about every year on eBay too.

No problem. I hope you find the process, and get it working again.

I disabled mine with using the manual as a guide.
