92 Lesabre Left rear transmission mount

Anyone have this mount go bad? I've had some bouncing in the motor only while driving. Thought it was the front left mount but it's further back. I can feel it under the drivers side floor board. I did a visual yesterday and it appears to be good. No appearent broken pieces. There does seem to be a lot of allowable travel in the distance the motor can rise and fall. Does anyone know how much play you should have in this mount?

The auto parts websites call it a Hydraulic Mount....and it's not cheap..like $99 at Autozone and $145 at Advanced.

Thanks

In all seriousness, what constitutes a "loose" motor mount, do you mean the bolts work their way loose, or do you mean it is worn out?? I have this problem on my 2000 LeSabre, every time I step on or let off the gas you can feel the motor shake, definately a feeling in the floor pan. I did a visual as well and nothing looks physically broken, but my dealer can't figure it out, although they've never really solved any problem I have ever brought to them. My body mounts up front crunch and pop, I replaced them (whole thread worth of info on that), but they are making noise again. I am thinking that perhaps this harsh feeling in the drivetrain is translating excess stress to the frame mounts and causing them to work loose, but I can't nail down the source of the thump feeling.

Re: 92 Lesabre Left rear transmission mount

I mean loose as in worn. All the bolts are tight. I was sure to apply thread sealer to them when I re-installed the new left front. The left rear just seems to have a lot of travel vertically than I would have expected. That's just an opinion. I haven't found how much play there should be, yet.

I'm not ruling out a worn wheel bearing though. I'm just trying to rule everything else out first.

I had a local mechanic look at it and he says it's the inner and outer tie rods. He's estimated $250 plus the governor's cut. This includes parts, labor and alignment. Does that sound reasonable? Basically, he's charging one hour for labor $65.
