KYB GR2 better than stock for 95SE ?
Greetings all,
I've got a 95SE I am need to replace my shocks/struts so I want to get a little more performance from the suspension and it's down to the best bang for the buck because I don't have much to spend. I'd like to retain close to stock comfort and I am keeping the stock SE springs. So here are my questions for those in the know: How do KYB GR2 shocks do when paired with stock springs - and are they firmer than the stock SE shocks that came with the car? Would I see more performance gains going with GR2 shocks AND a rear-sway bar versus just getting KYB AGX shocks/struts only? Any info is greatly appreciated! |

Re: KYB GR2 better than stock for 95SE ?
it'll be a stiffer ride. the body won't roll as much but you may feel the bumps in the road a little more. a rear sway bar will further help eliminate body roll.

Re: KYB GR2 better than stock for 95SE ?
KYB shocks tend to blow though so you'll end up replacing them a few times, especially the GR2s. My suggestion would be to save up for the better Tokico Illuminas which are adjustable and have a history of not blowing the way the GR2s/AGXs have.

BP2k2 - thanks for the info. Sounds like the GR2s are a little stiffer than stock but not too harsh.
THT, I hadn't heard that the GR2s (or the AGX's) have had much trouble with stock springs at all - is this a problem with aftermarket springs that are too stiff? 95Max - what Nissan parts website are you referring to? |

No problem with stock springs; sorry, I assumed you were lowering the car. Even on a 1.5" drop, the KYBs blow.

i love my illumina's, they were pricey but worth it. i originally just lowered the car with my H&R's(1.4" in the front and 1.3" in the back) but the ride was bouncy as hell, the illumina's coupled with the springs made for an ideal suspension; handles like a dream and adjustable to the point where it's hard to tell the car was even modified. it was a pain in the ass to install IMO
