Angry Window Regulaor, Now Will not start HELP

Any help on this would be GREAT,

The plastic tabs on the windows regulator went out, So the dealer said it was 189.00 for a new assemble (Does anyone know of a cheaper way to replace this?) Just for plastic tabs? 189.00

Now the really fun part, I took the whole door apart and then put it back together and prop the windows up with a stick in the windows till i find the part cheaper. Now the car will not start?? I found one fuse blown under the hood the (ACC/Cig light) replaced this and still will not start al i get it a dim light in the car. I checked the battery no power is drawing from it. If you sit in the car and turn the key and them wait you can see the temp gauge go up and down every few sec. and if you open the trunk and light goes dimm and them goes bright and then dimm again and keeps doing it??

Why don't you head over to aleromod.com and ask this question there. There are lots of people over there with knowledge of Alero's. The window regulator you can find on ebay for about $90. I'd just buy it from there instead of the dealer because it's just going to break again.

I doubt that the window thing and the no start issue are related, even though they happened one after another.

Your battery is most likely near dead. Will the auto start with a "jump"? Perhaps, that your proping of the window has opened a switch which is causing power to be shunted to gound without your knowledge (an unintended consequence of physically overriding a broken part).

If there is insufficient "juice" to turnover the engine the vehicle will not even attempt to engage the starter (not even a "click-click-click" from the starter solenoid). While things like the radio, running lights, guages may jump to attention when you turn the key to "RUN", there is simply insufficient voltage to crank the engine in the "START" position.

If the vehicle will not start with a "jump" (i.e., it acts the same way) then you've got a new diagnostic action to consider. I'd try the "jump" first. Let us know the result....I'd like to hear more.
