2002 318 (e46) starting problem

Engine starts after leting engine turn over once or twice but idles as if only firing on 3 cilinders. After switching of and letting the egine turn over more it starts and idled with no problem. No problem with first start if letting engine turn over a couple of times.

try replacing your idle controll valve . should be under your fuel rail.
