96 3000GT VS. Mustang GT

Who would win between a 96 3000GT Base auto VS a Mustang GT auto? It was about 1am and had the munchies so went to the nearest gas station and there was a girl with ford mustang GT. I asked her if it was a GT and she said yes. I am sure it could since its a V8 and has 260 HP and puts out 302LB of torque. My GT is the base only and has about 230 hp. Would it even be a close race?

Re: 96 3000GT VS. Mustang GT

Depends what year the GT was. The newer ones run mid 14s I believe. But the older ones( for instance my friend's 98 GT) ran 15 flat as a manual. If it were an 'older' auto, it would come down to the driver.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

yea, if it was a newer one, you would have got walked, especially from a stop. If it was a pre-99 stang, it would have been close.

it should be, just dont race him from a stop, N/A automatic 3/S trannies, stock, are dogs from a stop, which is why their 1/4 mile is considerately slower, now from a roll, it'll compete with the manual, so try and run him from a roll.

it doesnt matter, domestic auto trannies will rape a stock N/A mitsu tranny off the line

this is why you see domestic autos beating a lot of the manuals off the line, and not our cars autos doing so

there's really nothing wrong with our transmissions, its the same style transmission as DSM cars which have proven horsepower.

I have thrown 350 FWHP at the tranny with just a tranny cooler, and it held the power fine, i only burned up one end clutch in a year. Now the tranny has every mod, and in a couple of weeks, i'm about to throw 450+ FWHP at it, and see what kind of pounding it can take.
