03 Maxima VS. 03 Acura CL

which car is faster, the 03 acura cl automatic or the 03 nissan maxima automatic?

I'm trying to decide which one of the two i want to get, and don't know what is faster because the 03 acura cl is five speed but the maxima is only 4 speed auto.

I think if they're both auto, the speed difference won't be too different, in toehr words, one won't be MUCH faster than the other. Maybe the CL will be SLIGHTLY faster, but not so much that it should sway your decision on which to get.

I guess it just depends, coupe, or Sedan?

Vtec, or... whatever Nissan calls its variable valve timing

And if you're looking at the aftermarket market, i'd say its a little stronger (and ever gorwing) for the Maxima.

The Maxima may be a little faster. Two of my friends have an 03 I35 auto and an 03 TL-S 5spd slap stick. Almost the same cars. Whenever they race the I35 gets him by 1-2 cars. I dont know about the CLs but some of the TLs have bad trannies. My friend already had to go in for a new tranny at 40k miles. Then he had to go back in after 1k miles because something else with the tranny went wrong.

Actually, now that I think about it, unless you're talking about the 03 CL Type S, there's no way it'll beat an 03 Maxima.

my friend has an 01 cl-S with trip tronic(auto). i used to edge him out in my lightly modded 95 5 speed maxima. those cars are almost 3500 lbs. i can't see one beating a maxima.

I agree. The VQ puts out way more torque, which is big advantage on the street.

thanks for your input guys, as for if i was talking about a regular cl or a type s i was just talking about a regular, because i think a type-s would probably be higher insurance than the maxima.

oh that brings up the question, which has a higher insurance, maxima or the cl (and the cl type-s)?????

For insurance, Max < Cl < CL-S. Acura = luxury brand, insurance company needs to cover their ass.

I would rather get an accord if it had a stick than a maxima with a automatic. I hate autos. make me wanna puke. If you can get the maxima with a stick I would go for that.

I HATE the accords. Come on have u driven one? I felt like my grandmother (GOD bless her) would love this car! First, the tires are thin enough for a bicycle and the car rolls, fugetaboutit. At a minimum you'll have to aftermarket those both immediately, prob voiding any purchased warranty. Now u've invested what could have been spent in a max, no comparison. I don't know anyone who loves good cars with a new accord, and older ladies arent into racing when i pull up next to one. No frontin' they are stylish, the interior of the max is better, and arent they for the past um-teen years like the highest stolen cars (insurance)?

I don't know, I was fairly impressed by the 6 speed Accord. Looks decent, very quick, exhaust sounds goos, superb fit and finish inside. I wouldn't buy one, but they're not bad.
