Re: hyundais

Because thier first cars that people remember (The Pony and Stellar) were the biggest piles of shit out there, as were the Lantra (Gen I), Scoupe, Sonata (Gen I-IV) and Excel that followed it.

Thier cars are better these days, but people take a long time to get over anything.

My theory is that it's one of the only car manufacturers that the import loving kids can make fun of. I mean, if you're driving around in a Civic what other manufacturer can you point and laugh at for being slow and under powered? Ford/Chevy/Dodge guys get a good laugh at the Honda/Toyota/Nissan guys, so the Honda/Toyota/Nissan guys have to laugh at he Hyundai/Kia/Daiwoo guys.

My father owned an '86 Excel. It wasn't fast by any means but it sure as hell wouldn't quit running. The damn thing took a beating! 3 teenagers learned to drive on it, my sister ran it into a parked car for God's sakes but the thing never quit. Not a bad car at all for the money.

Re: hyundais

lol, i'll agree with the underpowered, well atleast for the older models. I own a 2000 tib I4. That thing is so slow, but the handling is great. The new ones one the other hand, i have some respect for. The V6 GT's are pretty fast. My friend took me in a ride in his, and I was thrown way off gard. I wasn't expecting it to be that fast.

Re: hyundais

My friend just bought a Silver '05 Tiburon GT, not bad for the price, its actually quite nice. I dont have a problem with Tiburons, you dont see them being riced out like Civics. The only thing I dislike about the car is that the backseat is so damn small, smaller than the backseat in my Prelude.
