what do you guys think of the Ford Lightning
I was at some street races the other night and there was a Ford Lightning there that was destroying everything anybody else put up against it... so I was just wondering what some of you guys think about the Ford Lightning, like how it is as a "street racer" what kind of mods do people make on them and stuff... I personally think that it is a really great concept to be able to do that in a pickup...

It's good,easy to go fast right to 12 seconds on the 1/4
after that the going gets tougher,it's a  sleeper

those things are sikkk... they can EASILY hang with a tuned corvette according to the shootout Hot Rod did a few months ago.

I don't mind 'em.
Personally, I like the Dodge Ram SRT-10 that's slated for production next year. The Lightning is easy to make run 12's, but getting into the 11's is damn hard for 'em.

well considering its about as light and aerodynamic as my house......i think 12s is a great accomplishment, i mean GREAT, and thats an understatement
but the srt is gonna kill it, thats just about all there is to it

well it better be faster than the cobra if its running 12'3, i have never seen a stock cobra run faster than 13 flat, but still its a bad ass truck!

i just looked up the stats on the lightning, i got them from www.fordlightning.com you may be suprised, 0-60 6.2 sec, 0-100 22.5 sec, 1/4 mile 14.6 @97mph, it pushes 360 hp and 440lb/ft torque. its still good since it wieghs 4,670lbs! so who ever said that they can run 12's is mistaking!

Actually the NEW Lightning makes 380hp.
So, your magazine is a little off. They will run the quarter mile in about 13.6 seconds (I've personally seen a '01 Lightning do that) With a few bolt ons, they will run 12's.

true... mine was the older mag... with the 360hp trucks
however, hypertech is comin out with a power programmer for the 00 lightning, which should make a big difference, as there is not a huge amount of stuff out for those trucks, or so it seems...
