Question 96 C-1500 Daytime Running Lights

The running lights on my truck don't come on. Any ideas about what the problem is? All the other lights are fine.

Re: 96 C-1500 Daytime Running Lights

I have a 96 z71 and mine does not come on. I did not yet check the obvious, the bulbs being burnt out. My reverse lights dont come on and I have changed the bulbs on them.

Re: 96 C-1500 Daytime Running Lights

they are bad for DRL diode. It is a finned box about 2" high and about 1 1/2" wide. It is under your dash on the drivers side right of the steering column about knee height which is where the steel tube is the diode is on the tube.To get it off to replace you need 10mm wrench and a pair pliers then slide it out.

Re: 96 C-1500 Daytime Running Lights

the one for the drl. its a flat, silver (if i remember correct) thingy under the dash between the steerin column and the drivers door. a mech at work knew about it from previous experience (at a dealership he worked at before he came to the airport authority)

As far as the reverse lights go, try replacing the ciruit board on you tail lights. Probably the most annoying ass problem with Chevy's around that time. Its about $35 at Oreily's.

Re: 96 C-1500 Daytime Running Lights

have you ever looked under the back of the truck on the drivers side.there is a plug for the tail lights some of the wires might have broke. put a test light to the wires with reverse in gear.neutral safety switch or just park the back to a wall at night and go though the gears and see if the light comes on.
