Finally: '00 ITR -vs- tsi

Well, I think I posted about 5 months ago asking you guys who would win if I were to race my buddies type-R. That date finally came.

As most of you may or may not know, KrNxRaCeR00 is back in town for a few weeks. Friday night we and another friend in 240sx decided to go to the Burgermaster and see if there were any cars. When we got there, nothin, so we ordered food and ate that, and still no cars. We finally say, fuck it, and decide to just go take a drive. We just cruised around for about 45 minutes and then decided that we were gonna head over to one of friends who was having some people over at his appt.

So we're on the hwy that leads to Boeing and it's wide open. We slow down to about 40mph and I give 3 honks. I drop it to 2nd gear and the RPM's shoot up to about 4500. We're dead even for that short amount of time until I throw it into 3rd gear and I felt like my car just stopped moving. Well, it wasn't really THAT bad, but he left me behind pretty good. I think he was at least a car ahead of me. That fucking 3rd gear vtec! We shut down about 90mph and I give him the thumbs up as sulk in my disappointment.

I then follow him onto Airport Road, and I'm hoping to catch a yellow light somewhere. Finally towards the end of the strip, we get one. I look over and he nods. The traffic lights to our right and left turn yellow and out we both start revving our motors.

The light turns green and we launch. First gear, I pulled on him, I think I had just over half a car lead. I hear him slam it into 2nd and his tires chirp. I throw into 2nd right after him, I stop pulling keep my half-car lead. But then comes 3rd gear. We both throw into 3rd and it's a reinactment of what happened about 5 minutes ago. I fell on my face and he pulled to a 1 car lead before we shut down.

They were good races, I had fun. But the saddest thing about all of this is that he had 2 people in his car and I only had myself. Granted, the extra person in his cars weighs like 135lbs, but never the less, he still pulled hard in 3rd.

It's back to the drawing boards. The guy in the 240sx was behind us when we raced and said I was probably running rich because everytime I got on it, a cloud of dark smoke would come out of my tailpipe. Which makes some sense, because when I bought the car, the previous owner had it running 17psi, maybe the car is tuned for higher boost. So I turned up the boost to about 13psi now and I'm doing some serious looking at exhaust. An ideal situation would be that I get an exhaust before KrNxRaCeR00 has to go so we can maybe get another run in. Or before we go to the track.

NOTES:

RACE 1 - Raced ITR on from 40mph, got pulled on bad and lost by at least 1 car

RACE 2 - Raced same type-R from a dig. Pulled him in 1st, stopped pulling in 2nd, and his 3rd gear vtec kicked my ass as he pulled away to win.

that'll be a great race for the video. We need to get together and do some cruising and get some more footage.

That's two loses in a row 97tsi it's about time you get your confidence back by racing some poor saps se-r Can't wait to see how you do with the exhaust that should help you a lot. You'll have to race my brothers truck again. BTW he raced you on level 3 he's still got another 2 levels for you he said.

Lol...well he didn't have any trouble giving me a good view of his taillights on level 3, I don't want to know what level 5 is like. But tell him once I get my exhaust and I turn my boost up, we'll have a rematch. BTW, that would be some good footage, the type-R -vs- the vr4 and that beast of a truck against my tsi. Why don't you slap your older tires on there and we can get some burn outs w/ the se-r?
