APR III 1.8T vs 2.8 PES G2 SC?
I've searched VWvortex/Audiworld and really couldnt find anything, so I thought I'd ask over here.
I was thinking about buying an A4 (Quattro), and would like the car to be a 13 sec performer in the future. I know the 1.8T is easier to mod initially, but I was looking at the APR III kit and the PES G2 SC for the V6 and they are roughly the same amount of money, but the PES kit is advertised as 290hp where as the APR III kit is 280hp. Which would be the better straightline performer? I cant find any real 0-60 numbers on either setup. Im certain the V6 + SC would have more low end grunt, but would a 1.8T +APR III make up for it on the top end? |

And also soon to come from another company a Intercooler kit to go with the G2 SC and should push the power over 300hp and allow us to run more boost.
Here mine with G2 Supercharger and BMC induction kit custom fitted.

Re: APR III 1.8T vs 2.8 PES G2 SC?
Yeah, Pes has been getting some great reviews for the G2. My friend has one in his 01 and he loves it, the car is great, very fast and you can feel the boost when the supercharger kicks in.
I would go with the 2.8 for simply that reason. You are not going to have as big of a mod than the supercharger or the turbocharger, so build upon that. Like docurley said, with the intercooler to come out, that should be a great combo. Here's a few more things you can do to a 2.8 (all from PES-tuning by the way) --Cold air intake, GIAC performance chip, tiptronic chip (which I highly recomend if you have the auto), and a Milltek Exhaust system, which may not be as good for your 4-cylinder engine. And that's just a start all from one company. Don't forget that Pes also makes a T-28 Turbo System that creates 270 hp on the 1.8t and already has a turbo system on it. The 1.8t has more mod options, but the 2.8, I think has more power and better options. You can't go wrong either way.

Thanks for all the input, but I'll most likely go with a 99 A4 and later a PES T-28 system. After reading about the PES T-28 vs the ARP Stage III I cant justify paying an extra $1200 for the ARP kit when the results are almost the same. |

Re: APR III 1.8T vs 2.8 PES G2 SC?
I would say the APR kit would be quicker due to the fact the car is lighter than the V6.

Don't forget that APR is coming out with the Stage III+. The stage III doesn't come with exhaust, FMIC, or anything.
