Re: maxima vs grandam gt

i tend to think not.

a 4th gen 5 speed has 190 hp 205 lbs-ft tq and weighs as little as 2895 lbs, depending on the options.
your car has 200 hp 225 tq but weighs 3450 lbs. the weight advantage is going to be the determining factor.

What year is your Grand Am GT? Is it auto or manual?

Re: maxima vs grandam gt

i think you can. there is more to speed then just hp and weight. i think this will be a good race. for you who don't know about the grandam gt, it is pretty dang quick.

Re: maxima vs grandam gt

weve all seen our share. i've seen this go both ways. i use to street race a lot and i've seen a lot of races. i've personally raced a maxima that looks like yours and i've also beat a grandam gt. to me it seemed the grand am gt was quicker. actually there's no doubt about it.
but thats all in who was driving. so i stay away from races i've seen and stick to actuall 1320 times either i've seen or a mag has tested. if niether then i check the hp and tq and at what rpm they make there power and weight and gearing

Re: maxima vs grandam gt

I think the Grand Am GT only comes with an automatic transmission. So, I am not sure what we're arguing about here...a 4 speed auto will never top a 5 speed manual in terms of gear ratio. The Maxima has all the advantages at the exception of horsepower.

i should say i've seen A maxima beat A stock GTP but don't you tell me what i've seen. no the maxima wasn't stock, it had an intake and catback and lightened pulleys but that's it. not only is the GTP 500 lbs heavier but it's only available in automatic; i know the kid who owns the GTP and i know the kid who beat him. i saw what i saw whether you believe it or not.

Re: maxima vs grandam gt

well a stock 6 speed max, will probibly defeat a gtp but if they were both auto's they would be pretty even.
