starter trouble????????

I have a 2000 S-10 Xtreme 2.2 auto with 27,607 miles on it. Last summer it started to act up. It would every once in a while not start. I store the truck in the winter and this summer, I went to start it and nothing. I turn the key and there is just a click. Nothing else. 1 click. I checked my battery terminals and they are tight. I tried to get under it and see about the starter but there is no room in my garage. Is it a starter problem or relay or something i am missing? If anyone has any sugestions I would appreciate it.

Re: starter trouble????????

if your vehicle is always sitting you might want to look at the battery. most likely it is dead or ready to die. if your going to store it for long periods of time you need to purchase a battery maintainer which will keep the battery at full voltage and amperage for long periods of time.

First off, check your batteries power. If it does have power; disconnect the terminals {negative first}. Check the positive terminal. If corroded, clean with a wire brush to remove corrosion. Re-connect and vuola!
Thank you
Thank you

This problem can happen often and should be checked yearly.

It happened to me about a year ago.
I was driving and my engine and power would turn on and off while I was driving. I then tried everything but the most obvious; my terminals were corroded. Just the other night while installing a system; my positive terminal post was already corroded again.

Hope this works for you!

Re: starter trouble????????

ALWAYS disconnect your battery when you are storing a vehicle.

Store the battery separately and keep it up to charge.
