Unhappy 1992 ford taurus i need help

my 92 3.8 taurus is overheating. i have replaced the water pump the radiator and the thermostat. still overheating. can someone please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you "burp" the cooling system after all that, to make sure you got all the air out? Are your head gaskets ok?

Also, you'll need to pull any codes stored by the computer.

How much work are you able to do yourself? To pull the codes, check out http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html

thanks for the tip we burped the radiator and now the fan is kicking on but it is not cooling down the engine. if you have any more suggestions i would appreciate them.

ck. for a restriction in the bypass hose near the altenator.
unplug the ect sensor near the t-stat. the fan should come on high speed.

Is the radiator cap the correct one for the vehicle and is it in good shape? How badly is it overheating? What were the circumstances leading up to this? Did it just start one day or did it gradually start getting hottter and hotter? Under what conditions does it overheat?

yes the radiator cap is the right one for the car the car gets hotter and hotter until it boils. and it just started happening one day

robin,
Dan in WA gave you a good clue. Older 3.8 engines have had problems with headgaskets.
