'97 Sunfire 2.4 dies without warning

2nd post to this: fuel pump and regulator are fine. Car sits a few minutes after being driven and at normal operating temp. but is hard to start. Once started, if the accelerator is pressed down quickly and momentarily, the engine dies and hard to start again. But if driven carefully for a minute or two, the problem disappears and engine can be revved without incident. No check engine light and no fault codes to read. Suggestions? Dealer doesn't have a clue and local mechanic is stumped. I'm wondering if power pack is acting up under higher underhood temberatures as engine sits and once underway, as engine cools a bit, is able to function more or less normally.
Thanks,
Michael

I had a very similar problem for a while. I change a few parts here and there and still no change. Then, it finally decided to die and go to hell and it turned out to be the ignition module. That's what solved my problem, if you know somebody with the same car as yours maybe you can try swapping to see if it will solve your problem..

do a compression check when the engine is cold. It sounds to me like your head gasket is going, and once the engine warms up, the metal expands and seals back up. when the engine is cold, the metals are contracted, and the gaps between pieces expand.
