93 transmission overheating???

I have a 93 Explorer and the transmission has and still works great (160K miles). I have had problems with the fluid "poring" out of the front 2 different times when driving. Both times were on the interstate. Several shops have quoted a minimum price of $1300 and up to $3000. They have found no codes and they are not sure whats wrong, but assure me that they can fix the problem (with little to no warranty). It has had a small leak for some time and the problem apears to be when it gets hot..?? Engine is at normal temp. and the fluid has been changed. Please help!!! Thanks

it is coming from the front seal when it comes out. Odd that the seal would leak intermitantly.? I can't find anyone to touch it for under $1300

not even to replace just the seal? and it could be intermitent if it only leakes at high temps or cold temps i.e. when the fluid gets hot it thins out maybe?
