whistling windshield

Any one have the windshield that whistles? When your going 50mph or faster. This happens during the heat of the day.My weather strip seams look good.It sounds like its at the top of the windshield.Had it fixed once(bottom)area.Has anyone else gone through this? Thanks Ps: No bug shield!

First question.....

The first thing I want to ask is if you have a bug shield. Certain brands of bugshields will cause a disruption in the normal airflow over the car and cause the (believe it or not) antenna to cut the air differently which in turn causes the windshield to crackle or whistle. If this is the case and heck even if it is not the cure would be to take black poly and run the seam under the factory seal ( it should just lift right up).

Simple Country Guy is correct. I had the same problem immediately after installing my bug shield. A nice bead of silicone caulk down each side of the windshield solved the problem.

Re: whistling windshield

I have the same problem. You guys are saying to lift up the edge of the rubber gasket running down each side of the windshield and run a bead of caulk down the metal then press the rubber back down into the caulk?? Also - what is poly? Will silicone do?

Thanks,

MC

Re: whistling windshield

YEs you are correct, except I would also run a very fine line of SILICONE or POLY down the edge also to keep the wind from getting in there in the first place.

Re: whistling windshield

My 02 had a buzz from 45MPH and up when I bought it at 35,000 mi. The previous owner already had an appointment to have it fixed under warranty. They replaced the trim at the top of the windshield and no buzz no more,
