Re: D15b Dual Vtec

SOHC is crap. You can not (in anything I have seen or heard of) get any worthwhile power out of it. You might as well get a decent b series and you will be way ahead of the d.

Unless of course you have more money than you know what to do with and just want to waste some of it on a car that will be a middle of the pack runner (at best) no matter what you do to it.

Doubletap you are about as stupid as a rock. Please refrain from giving anyone advice here anymore. Thanks.

Ghostice, what kind of car do you have? what are some of your goal's? what is your budget? your answer to all these question's will better help some of us more open minded people to help you out.

thanks for responding civicHBsi91 , i have a 91 civic 4dr lx. my budget was 1500, and my plans was doing turbo, exhaust and maybe nos, still pending, but the budget for the motor i wanted to be 1500 and the b16 swap is about 2800 installed which i wasn't ready to spend that much. but i wanted to least start off with a vtec motor and work my way up.

Re: D15b Dual Vtec

So your gonna have a shop swap in the d15B vtec?

Your gonna have to convert to mpfi no matter what.

Are you gonna swap in the d15 or are you having a shop do it? Have you been quoted a price by them if you are having them do it?

Re: D15b Dual Vtec

yeah, i know all about coverting dpfi to mpfi, running the wires for the other two injectors i did some research on that, seems like a lot to do. so i just want to let them do it, they gave me a quote of 800 to do the swap. but do u know which is better the d15vtec on the d15bvtec, because they have one that has two vtec solonoids, with a three stage engage? Is it better?

Re: D15b Dual Vtec

So the shop gave you a quote of 800 to get the motor and then put it in? Doesen't sound like too bad of a deal.

the one with the two vtec solenoid's is a jdm motor. It produce's about the same amount of power as a d16z6 or a d16y8 but the z6 and y8 might put down alittle more torque im not sure on it. It dosen't matter which motor you get they are usually close performance wise y8's would probably have less mile's on them than z6's and im not even sure about the d15b vtec. Either way you will be happy with your swap for a while.
