Cool Is it just me?

I don't know about you guys but where I live(maine) we all meet at the same spot, same time, every week to race. It's to the point that some nights cops will just sit there at were we meet to see if any one is going to do any thing stupid. we all go to other spot to race but tonight we couldn't think of a spot. we finally got a good spot and we all rolled out. Now when I say rolled out I mean 40+ cars. so me and my friend tried to meet everyone there but got lost. we start driving back and BAM! we see a few friends pulled over cops all over him and all the cars leaving. thank god we got lost other wise we would have got a ticket. i was just woundering if any one else has stuff like this happen where they live. we use walky talky's and what not to make sure there's no on coming traffic and what not. all in all it's pretty fun.

Re: Is it just me?

yeh nice man, we got the same thing happening here in Perth, the cops do EXACTLY the same thing so our regular spot is being brocken up now

we use little radios tuned to the police frequency so that as soon as the cops mention street racing we can get the hell out.

i wanna ask something we for some reason always meet outside mackers. does this happen everywhere els aswell????? always wanted to no that

Re: Is it just me?

haha in mobile we got some backwoods areas to race that the cops are either a. out of jurisdiction or b. too smart to go. Usually though on airport, the cops are crazy because alot of the wanna be fast and the furious honda kiddos attempt to race (aka swirve in and out of traffic) so they become easy prey for the cops... we just make sure we are just outside the cops jurisdiction (to the sherrif's area... cause they don't care unless someone is being robbed / raped... you know, real crimes)
Btw micro, funny line...

Re: Is it just me?

hey thanks. yea see we end up driving to different city's. like Portland is where i live and has the most cops due to the size of the city. so we go to smaller city's like saco, gorham where ever we can. Not alot of hodas show up at ares. last night was a few VW golfs, talons,Bwm's and even a twin turbo vr-4 3000 gt. some people just go for the show so there's alot of different cars.

Sounds like you guys really aren't the brightest buttons on the Jacket. A group of that size surely will draw more attention than you'd want! In saying that the same thing happens here in New Zealand quite often. They start out in smaller groups in the city of Auckland then mobilize meeing up as they move on to one of 6 regular spots. The key words be "regular spots". The police will always know basiclly where they are.

Not sure how things work in the states, and I'm sure each county has it's own set of local "extra" laws but here the government pass "the boy racer law" which part of defines drag racing or racing. The fines and punishiment isn't over the top - Lose your car for 28 days, lic for a while, and a few hundy fine. What they've really done extra is those that go to just watch are getting nailed and punished the same! You don't have to participate to be raped by officer plod. We also get done for "unnecessary accelereation", sustained loss of traction, exhaust noise louder than factory, etc etc. Basiclly due to the street racing groups all performance car enthusiasts are being targeted and penalized.

Street racing is dying here slowly but none the less is. Once it is dead enough where it isn't in the pulic eye maybe the police will leave the rest of us alone.

Re: Is it just me?

yea we only get ticket's. drivers get 300 dollar tickets and people watching get 150. we meet at the smae spot most weeks but it all depends on the cops. sometimes we don't have any even drive by. but if alot of cops show up we regroup at new spots and pick out where to race. so there's 1 spot to group up and what not and other to race at. it makes the cops job a little harder when we go from city to city, they can't really know where were going.

Re: Is it just me?

to tell the truth, ppl do yell 'cops! cops! cops!'

organised or semi organised racing IS dying here aswell the police are comming down to hard on it.

i reken that it is just a fad ATM mainly brought about because of F&F, in a few years the scene will calm down and the real racers will still be doing it while the try hards stop.

Lets hope so. As long as they don't make another movie, it should be leaving. I have heard rumors though.

You'd think they would have some reality show like cops except where the camera man tags along with the other side (if there are "sides" other than the boys in blue). It'd make shit loads of money with the boy racers and even the real enthusiasts watching. Someone do that lol.

Every once in a while I'll notice a lot of people being at street racing gatherings then for two or three weeks it's totally dry. The "try hards" come in waves. loud, whiny, obnoxious waves.
