Smoke coming out of Dip Stick Hole

I own a 2000 GTP and I filled it up last night at a gas station and I went to check the oil. I pulled the dip stick out and a little bit of smoke started to come out of the hole. Is this a problem or is it just a normal thing??? If it is a problem what is it and what can I do with it.

Re: Smoke coming out of Dip Stick Hole

If the engine was hot this is normal. Some of the oil you pulled out of the pan probably got on the sides of the dipstick tube and began to smoke. As long as you don't get smoke pouring out of the tube and other areas of the engine don't worry about it.

You may need to service your PCV valve.

Re: Smoke coming out of Dip Stick Hole

Dito on what carnut said~ Check to see if your Pcv valve is working, If not replace it soon... you should be able to blow through it one way but not the other... a good way to get your car to burn oil.... common problem on older cars...
