Zr2 Or Not ???

Ok, I just got my 1994 S-10 a little while ago. I think it is a Zr2 but not sure. It says it was on the back of the truck bed, that was good enough when I bought the truck. I now just want to confirm it now.

Should it have the ZR2 code in the glove box ? My vin doesn't say but it does say it has the 4.3 liter and 4.32 gears.

Do I have a ZR2 or not ??

Or did somebody just put a sticker on the truck ?

Thanks

Re: Zr2 Or Not ???

If the VIN begins with "GCCT", it is a ZR2.

Re: Re: Zr2 Or Not ???

My VIN is 1GCDT14Z2RK150250

So do I have a fake ZR2 ?

Thanks

This truck sits higher than normal S-10s and has a more aggressive stance.

Re: Zr2 Or Not ???

That's a good question.I got one,I think.Same as you my bed has the ZR2 decals and higher stance.I went to Advance Auto to get a crate engine cause mine blew up.They asked what was the 8th digit in the vin.I said W.They said that it's not a ZR2 then and if it was the digit would have been an X.I was like O.K. then.So one day I was under it and happened to look at the transfer case and there it was..... ZR2!So my question would be who would go through the trouble to do that or lift the truck or put the flares on.The flares are bolted on and the fenders have to be taken off to put them on.Also the fenders are different cause of the flare setup and the bedsides are too. This I know for a fact cause I'm a autobody tech.I also know that the Zr2s have a different rearend than a stock S10.So just take a look at your transfer case and look for a little plate that says ZR2.

I will have to check that out. You would think they would make the check digit a Z to make it easier LOL.

I will check it out and let you know ... I would say it is ... Why would someone put all that money in a S-10 to make it look like a ZR2? For the money it cost they could have sold this one and bought a ZR2.

Thanks and I will let you know.
