Subwoofer Wiring
Yeah I just got a whole subwoofer package for my truck. I got one of those thin sub boxes that fits behind my seats cause I dont have a backseat (single cab). I got one 12 inch 400 watt sub and a 2 channel 600 watt Legacy amp.
I have no clue how to do the wiring, what to plug it all into, or anything. It acme with no directions basically. I bought the American Accessories Power Kit 2 Wiring kit for it. Anyonw tell me how to wire it from scratch in my 98 Ford Ranger? Or website links, anything...Im craving bass, lol. |

Hey, I installed one on my 98 ranger 4x4 XLT. Go to Wal-Mart and buy an amp kit About $10 In the kit is a light blue, red with a fuse and black wire. On the amp you should have a red wire (goes to the battery), a black wire (to ground), and a light blue wire (to the back of the stereo).
I don't know if you are hooking this up into the factory stereo or not. I didn't, but I think it will still work if you hook it into the factory stereo, not 100% sure though. Remeber when you hook up the light blue wire for the amp, you DO NOT want your amp on all the time, just when the stereo is on. Test it and make sure when you turn the stereo off, the light on the amp goes off. If it doesn't you hooked the wire up in the wrong spot. If your amp stays on all the time it will drain your battery. I hope this gives you some insight, any questions let me know. __________________________________________________ ___________ 1998 Ford Ranger 4X4 XLT Extended cab Sony Xplod 220 Watt single CD Jensen 400 Watt amp MTX road thunder box 2-10" woofers w/ 2" tweeters and bass ports Jenson 200 watt stand alone sub woofer tube. Re: Subwoofer Wiring
the other guy was right. you will have to buy an amp installation kit that includes, signal cable ( red and white RCA cables ), REM wire (its blue) power cable (to connect to the battery), a ground wire, and speaker wire. the signal cable, if u have a cd player, will hook up to the OUTPUT ports on the back of your stereo and you will have connect the REM wire to the REM wire (usually a blue wire with a white stripe) that comes out of your stereo. and then you will have to connect the power cable to the positive (+) side of your battery. you will also have to connect the ground wire to a metal part your truck. once you have run all the wires to your amp then connect the REM wire (blue one) to the REM connection. the singal cable to the INPUT ports (white to white and red to red, the power cord to the PWR connection, connect the ground wire to the ground connection. and finally, connect the speakers to the amp with the speaker wire. make sure u connect positve to positive and negative to negative.that should be it. any questions just ask
