Question Horsepower Increase??

Any idea how much WHP would increase by adding the following to a totally stock 99 GTP?
1. U-bend replacement
2. SLP CAI
3. Autolite 605s
4. 160 degree thermostat

Outside of a new PCM and 3.4 pulley, any other low-end mods that will increase WHP? Thanks.

Re: Horsepower Increase??

u bend replacement ~ 3-4 whp
slp cai = 18 whp
donno bout the plugs, and you can expect small gains from the t stat

other mods - better sc belt, headers, exhaust, water pump, throttle body conversion, diff supercharger, turbo kit, larger cam, shift kit wont improv your horses, but itll help you have more fun wit the ones youve got. lots v other stuff, look around.

Re: Horsepower Increase??

Thanks. Figure the 3.4 and DHP 1.0 are next. Looking also at replacing the nose drive down the road.

Re: Horsepower Increase??

I think you're right. But it would make pulley chaning quicker since the new nose drive has the keyed pulley system. Will probably just keep the existing nose drive and swap to a 3.4.

Re: Horsepower Increase??

i'ld shi* if i ever saw an slp cai give you the potential for 18whp on a near stock car. personally from my experience with them i strongly dislike them. they're cheap in construction and not any better than a gutted stock airbox w/ hi-flo filter.

really, because the slp was dynoed on a 97 gtp w/ ONLY an aftermarket downpipe and it gave an 18 hp gain at the wheels. Its your call about how well you think its constructed, but you are the first person ive ever heard complain, but it not being any better than a gutted airbox w a high flow filter. well. thats just wrong, i donno wat ta tell ya.

Re: Horsepower Increase??

I alway thought and found the cheapest and fastest HP gain was the 3.4" pulley and a cold air box.
Seeing I've been married twice, I know I have made a mistake once. But worked fastest with my car.

you ever thought about how restrictive that little 2.25 passage in the downpipe is. slp themselves say 8-10whp on the box which other gtps with gutted boxes and maybe a ubend or so put out that much

Re: Horsepower Increase??

yeah the slp looks like crap, ive never even seen if before just now, but i wouldnt even condsider buying one. Id go with the msp, any induction system tht can bring 23 crank hp is incredible. I have however seen stats which claim tht the wizaired induction system is better than the msp, but that was from a site selling the wizaired, so i dont know, id like to check it out though. If anyone owns the wizaired and the msp your input would b very helpful. if the site was not lying than the wizaired is an insane intake and you should get it.

http://easyperformance.com/CAI/Head_to_Head_Content.htm

this is the site comparing the wizaired and the msp. i guess i just have trouble believing that the wizaired cai could produce a full 17 more whp than the msp. i do notice tht the wizaired appears to be in a better position for induction, however, i dont know if any of the differecnes make 17 more whp believable.
