Please help! I have 98 Camry V6 auto. When I press the cruise control, the light of Cruise on control panel is on, but I do not feel any pressure change of gas padel, if I release my foot from gas padel, the speed will go down. the car just replace the transaxle. Should I take the car to the dealer? Any thoughts are welcome! Thanks in advance.

Re: 98 Camry Cruise Control does not work
Has it ever worked? Or maybe you just need to set the speed after turning it on?
Press button then push for speed up or down maybe back. Not sure on 98 but you usually need more than just turning it on. |

Hi again, I did try the cruise control, it does need to press up to set the speed. Thanks. Now I have another questions and/or problems about my 98 Camry V6. The car just had transmission replaced as well as timing belt and water pump changed. Sometimes, when the car was at 20-40km/h or 40-60km/h, the rpm can go over 2000 even 2800 and noisy, but not at high speed saying over 80km/h, I asked about it to the garage who did the transmission job, but no clue. I do not want more serious damage before it is too late. Second, after the transmission job done, I found it was very hot under hood after driving. sometimes, even the hood at the area of passenger side was hot. Any advice is welcome. Thanks again.

Re: 98 Camry Cruise Control does not work
The rpms at those speeds are normal if your engine is cold. It will tend to stay in the lower gears longer. Those engine speeds are not dangerous to the engine.
Engines normally get hot. Is this abnormally hot? Don't forget, it's summer.... |
