Engine won't crank - occasionally
I have a 2002 Olds Silouette. Occasionally, when the car is warm but not hot, my wife will go out to the the car and try to start it and nothing will happen. The dash lights will come on, the radio will play but the engine will not crank. It doesn't click or do anything at all. If you wait a while, it starts up as normal. During the waiting period, I am fiddling with various things such as moving it to neutral, turning the wheel and various other things to try and pinpoint something, but so far no luck. It starts when it wants to, usually 5 to 15 minutes later. This happened 3 times over the past year. Now in the past week it is happening every other day.
ANY IDEAS would be appreciated. Thanks |

its your pass key theft deterrant. Either you need a new key or new ignition switch. It will go into suspend or something when it does not read the RFID chip in the key correctly and stop the car from starting for 15 minutes or a half hour or so before it resets itself. The keys are expensive, but i'm sure the ignition is more so.

Re: Engine won't crank - occasionally
According to the dealer, they found a "purple wire loose". They claim that fixed it, but I guess only time will tell. It hasn't done it again yet, but it's only been a couple of weeks.
Thanks for the replies. |
