Car shaking

Hi,

This is my first message to this forum.
I bought a 95 Neon last week and I'm having some problems with it.
When I speed it between 50 and 55 mph, the car starts to shake. If I speed it up or slow down, it stops shaking.
The tires look new. Could that be alignment?
The other problem I'm having with it is that I hear some noises coming from under the car sometimes when I take my foot off the gas pedal. It sounds like something wrong with the exhaust system. The engine sounds smooth though.
I'm very broke right now and I can't afford to fix those problems right now, but I'd like some advices on what I should fix first to avoid major problems later on.
Also, what kind of services should I do to keep this car running good for a long time? Oil seems fine. Belts? Spark plugs? By the way, the car has 99k miles on it.

i had the same problem with my 98 neon. every time i sped up to about 55, 60 miles, it began to shake, and after i bought new front tires the shaking stopped. you might have a ball, or welt on the tire.

as for the sound coming fromm underneath, i couldn't say. you might have loose piping or something.
