Who thinks things are goin for the worst?

Well I know this is about cars but it is also about my life and probably others. You guys watch car concept shows and what not. I personally hate the new styles they are coming out with. The new r-35 for example...hate it. I am a fan of the cars that were made from 88 to 03. Right now im 15 and after I get out of college and get a real job around 25 to 30 years old, the year will be about 2015 to 2020. Thats when I wanted to buy a good import and rebuild it the way I want. Then it hit me when I thought about it. Those cars will be 20 to 30 years old. It gonna be hard finding some and getting the parts. Now I know how hard it actualy is to restore an old muscle cars. Some of yall are lucky your in your 20's now. You have jobs and can afford to build your cars. Its going to suck for me because most people are gonna get wrapped up in this new car styling craze. I know this is the "coffee break" section but if I had a job thats when I would talk about it and plus, I couldnt find anywhere else to put it. What are yalls opinions on how things will turn out.

Cars look worse and worse every year. What they're capable of is all that impresses me anymore. Everything is starting to look the same and that drives me nuts.

That's why i drive the old sedan....find something that looks, sounds, and rides the way this old boat does. No new cars will give you that i guarantee. In my selling career, i have yet to drive a vehicle that is as smooth riding on the highway as this car is, though the new '04 F150 comes close as does the '04 Lincoln Navigator thanks to the air-ride suspension.

They just don't make em the way they used to. Look at the accident risk. Anybody hits me, THEY need the airbag, not me.

I'm boycotting new cars.

Sure all the new cars look like warts (the SAME wart, too) but the performance is amazing. Even ordinary, mainstream mid - price sedans are faster, better handling and performing than even the most premium machines of 20 years ago and more.

I like the old cars, (I have 9 of them, ranging in age from 16 to 36 years old) They have their virtues, but for day to day driving the new stuff is best.

I doubt they will ever outlaw them but they may stop selling gas for them.

Re: Who thinks things are goin for the worst?

They won't outlaw something that has been legal for years and is no harm to anyone (other than the emisions).

Someday if they ever find a replacement for fosil fuel and given enough time for change there will be little reason to have gas stations or oil refineries.

Re: Who thinks things are goin for the worst?

I think he means you'll have to get normal gas at special places like how you have to get 104 octane at shops or tracks or whatever... but thats like saying we have hot dogs, but in 10 years when we find a new way then hot dogs will be illegal

I know its a bad analogy but you get my point

Yeah the styles are definitly going to change but you can same the same things about everything like fashion for example. My biggest concern is that all future cars will be electric and tunning cars will turn into something like overclocking your pc!

When gasoline goes down the toilet, I'm sure plenty of enthusiast would set up stills and convert their cars for burning Alcohol. That's what I'd do. Of course if the eventual replacement for gasoline is alcohol, then there's nothing to worry about.

The technology and performance of modern day is unquestioned. It is by far superior to that of the most refined classic car. It just all looks the same dammit!

As far as out-lawing gasoline, well, can't gasoline engines run off of strong alchohal already? The old ones i mean....the new ones, you get one wrong thing under that hood and they're toast! (you know what i mean)

It won't be outlawed, they'll just shut down most of the plants for oil refining and prices will shoot up through the roof for fossil fuels....we think 94 cents a litre was insane, how about 20 bucks per litre? My car has a 93 litre gas tank dammit! ($1860 to fill the tank)

Re: Who thinks things are goin for the worst?

As far as style goes, I think it's getting better. No longer does every single Japanese car look alike, there is some excellent looking cars beginning to come from the Jap makers (Accord (European), Subaru Legacy, Mazda6, Nissan 350Z, Nissan Teana, Toyota Altezza/Lexus IS200, Infiniti Q45 and G35, Mazda3 etc.)

The European cars have that added quirkiness- you certainly cannot accuse a Renault Megane or Citroen C4 of looking like everything else, the Alfa Romeo 156 and Volkswagen Passat still look stunning after the better part of a decade, or how about the new Audi A6 and the TT or the Peugeot 407 and MG ZT?

The American manufacturers seem to be stuck in a time warp at the moment- with each one building something to harp back to the "Good ol' days" not my cup of tea at all.

And don't get me started on the technological advancements...

yea, it seems as like just when American companies start to understand aerodynamics and all the thoughts other countries have put into the style of their cars they go right back to the box that pushes the air out of the way rather than cuts through it... this excludes the corvette along with a few others
